Cricket Formats and Competitions

crickex logging T20 match batting moment

Cricket is played in three main formats — T20, ODI, and Test. Each has a different character, so the betting markets differ as well.

T20: The fastest format. In this 20-over game, the momentum can shift within just a few minutes. That is why live in-play betting is most active here. BPL, IPL, and the ICC T20 World Cup are the three tournaments most familiar to Bangladeshi fans and bettors.

ODI: In the 50-over format, tactics play a bigger role. From the opening powerplay to the death overs at the end, the pace of the match changes at every stage. The ICC Cricket World Cup and bilateral series are played in this format.

Test: This five-day format requires patience and deeper knowledge. A team's innings, pitch conditions, and weather all combine to determine the result. Longer-term markets such as Series Winner or Top Run Scorer are popular here.

Compared to football or other sports, cricket betting depends on far more variables — weather, the toss, pitch reports, team form, and the outcome of each over all feed into markets that update continuously.

Football and Other Sports

crickex logging football and sports betting options

Alongside cricket, crickex logging offers markets for football, tennis, badminton, and several other sports.

Football: The sport with the most bets placed worldwide. The most familiar markets here are Match Winner, number of goals (Over/Under), and Both Teams to Score. Football has a draw as a separate result, so there are three options (1X2) — in T20 and ODI cricket there is generally no draw, so the market is split simply into two sides.

Other Sports: Tennis matches have Set Winner and Game Handicap markets. Point spreads are popular in badminton. These markets are less detailed than cricket, but fast-paced matches mean good live betting opportunities.

The key difference between cricket and football is this: in cricket, every ball and every over adds new information, so market odds change frequently. In football, changes happen comparatively less often.

crickex logging's casino section offers live table games, card games, and slots. For more details, see the crickex logging Casino page, or for slots specifically, see the Slots section.

Popular Betting Markets

The seven markets below are the most commonly used in cricket betting. A simple example is given for each — these are for illustration only, not an indication of any guaranteed outcome.

Market What it is Typical example
Match Winner A bet on which team will win the match Team A or Team B — pick one of two options
Toss Winner Which team will win the toss before the match starts An even-chance market; odds are usually close to equal on both sides
Top Batsman Who will score the most runs within a specific team A bet on which batter will score the most runs for Team A
Total Runs (Over/Under) Whether the total runs in a match or innings will be above or below a set number Over or under 160 runs in the first innings — pick one of two options
Top Bowler Which bowler will take the most wickets A bet on who will be the leading bowler for Team B in a specific innings
Multi Bet Combining multiple selections into one bet — you need all of them to be correct to win Match Winner selections from three separate matches in one bet — if any one is wrong, the whole bet loses
Handicap Giving the weaker team a virtual advantage to even out the market If Team A is given a -10 run handicap, Team B can "win" the bet by scoring just 11 more runs

How to Understand Odds

Three odds formats appear in cricket betting — Decimal, Fractional, and American. All three express the same information in different ways.

Decimal

Decimal odds are the simplest — total return = stake × odds. Example: Team A to win at odds of 2.25, ৳200 stake → total return ৳450 (৳250 profit + ৳200 original stake).

Fractional

Fractional odds show the ratio of profit. 5/4 means ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked. With Team A at 5/4, a ৳200 bet → ৳250 profit, total return ৳450.

American

American odds are written with a plus or minus sign. +125 means ৳125 profit on a ৳100 stake. Team A at +125 with a ৳200 bet → total return ৳450.

All three formats together — Example 1

Team A to win: Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125.
A ৳200 stake returns ৳450 total if correct (৳250 profit + ৳200 original stake). If wrong, ৳200 is lost.

Favourite's odds — Example 2

Team B is the favourite: Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400.
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. A ৳200 stake returns ৳250 total if correct (৳50 profit + ৳200 original stake).

Things to remember

  • 1The lower the odds, the bigger the favourite
  • 2Fractional 1/4 means ৳1 profit for every ৳4 staked
  • 3American -400 means ৳100 profit on a ৳400 stake
  • 4The profit amount is the same across all three formats

Live In-Play Betting

Live betting means placing bets while a match is in progress. In cricket, every wicket, every six, and every maiden over affects the odds.

For example: if Team A loses both openers in the first over, their odds of winning will lengthen (meaning their chances drop), while Team B's odds will shorten. The market updates as the situation changes.

Live betting works particularly well in T20 matches — when the required run rate suddenly rises or falls in the last five overs, odds shift quickly. On crickex logging, live markets update in sync with the live scorecard, making it easy to follow the match and make decisions.

To use live betting, you first need to create an account. Go to the crickex logging Login page to log in or register.

Useful Betting Tips

Betting is a form of entertainment. The habits below help keep it more controlled and enjoyable:

  • 1 Set aside a fixed amount for betting only — if you lose it that month, do not add more.
  • 2 Before a match starts, check team form, pitch type, and the weather report — these give useful context for understanding the odds.
  • 3 Multi bets may look more attractive in terms of potential return, but the risk is higher too — if any one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.
  • 4 In live betting, placing large stakes on impulse is best avoided — odds change fast, so smaller, planned bets tend to work better.
  • 5 Think of betting as entertainment rather than a source of income. Read our Responsible Gaming guidelines for how to bet responsibly.

A note on multi bets

If three separate selections have odds of 1.60, 1.70, and 1.90, the combined multi bet odds will be:

1.60 × 1.70 × 1.90 = 5.17
A ৳100 stake returns ৳517 in total — but only if all selections are correct.

If even one selection is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost. A multi bet offers larger potential returns, but the risk is equally larger.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, there is a significant difference. In T20, odds change quickly and there are more live markets. In ODI, innings-based markets are more common, such as runs in the first 30 overs. In Test matches, longer-term markets like series winner or innings result are more widely available. Because the pace of play differs across formats, your approach needs to differ as well.

Each has its own advantages. With pre-match betting, you can make a calm decision after looking at team form, pitch reports, and weather. With live betting, you can decide based on how the match is actually unfolding, though the pressure to act quickly is higher since odds change fast. Which is "better" depends on your familiarity and preference.

Yes, on crickex logging you can place bets on multiple tournaments running at the same time. BPL and IPL take place at different times of year, but you can bet on whichever is currently in progress. You can also add selections from different matches to a multi bet.

Match Winner is the easiest for newcomers — there are only two options. Toss Winner and Over/Under run lines are also relatively straightforward because the choices are limited. Top Batsman or wicket-related markets require a bit more familiarity.

If a match is completely cancelled due to weather, in most cases the bet is voided and the stake is refunded. However, if the result is determined using the Duckworth-Lewis method, that is treated as a valid result. The specific rules are set out in crickex logging's terms and conditions.
